Lina Wiedwald from Lüneburg and Justina Moncevičiūtė from Lithuania/Berlin are guests in Neumünster from 27 May to 15 July as part of the °Ceramic Artist Exchange – Tandem Programme. For seven weeks, the two artists will live and work together at the Keramikkünstlerhaus.
Their residency will be accompanied by several public events offering insights into their artistic processes.
The programme opens on 30 May with Kultournacht Neumünster. From 6 pm to midnight, the doors will be open to visitors. Lina Wiedwald and Justina Moncevičiūtė will present sketches and works that provide a first impression of the projects they will be developing during their seven-week residency. Jantje Almstedt will present her new work Just a Game. A pop-up bar in the garden will invite guests to relax and stay awhile.
On Tuesday, 16 June, at 6 pm, the artists will give a Showing, an evening presentation in which they will introduce their artistic practices through a projected visual presentation.
During the Open Studio on Saturday, 20 June, visitors will have the opportunity to observe Lina Wiedwald and Justina Moncevičiūtė at work between 10 am and 5 pm and learn more about their artistic approaches.
A ceramics workshop for children and young people aged eight and above will take place on Saturday, 27 June. Participation is possible upon prior registration by email.
The residency will conclude on Thursday, 9 July, with the opening of an exhibition presenting the works created during the residency. As part of the opening event, the artists will discuss their working processes and experiences during their stay at the Keramikkünstlerhaus in an Artist Talk.

Lina Wiedwald (Lüneburg)

Lina Wiedwald (Lüneburg) explores the boundary between vessel and sculpture during her residency. In her works, she combines relief-like surfaces with drawn underglaze motifs that appear like enchanted visual worlds on the ceramic. Through layering, partial concealment, and transparent glazes, ambiguous compositions emerge. In this way, the processes of becoming and concealment become visible, opening new perspectives on the interplay of material, form, and memory.

Justina Moncevičiūtė (Lithuania) explores the relationship between text, textile structures, and ceramics at the Keramikkünstlerhaus. The starting point of her work is historical carmina figurata – double-readable text-image forms in which visual and linguistic structures intertwine. Using ceramic segments, the artist develops object-like compositions that function like woven texts. Based on feminist writings, spatial “pattern poems” emerge that interconnect language, material, and structure.
