Since Wednesday, August 12<\/strong>, two new artists have been guests at the Keramikk\u00fcnstlerhaus. As part of the \u00b0Ceramic Artist Exchange \u2013 Tandem Programme<\/strong>, Julia Schuster from Austria<\/strong> and Sarban Chowdhury from India<\/strong> will spend seven weeks at the KKH. Together and individually, they will explore new approaches to their artistic practice, experiment with materials, and develop new artworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their residency will be accompanied by several public events<\/strong> offering insights into their artistic processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, August 29<\/strong>, the Open Studio<\/strong> will take place from 10 am to 5 pm<\/strong>, offering visitors the opportunity to watch the two artists at work and learn more about their artistic approaches. On Tuesday, September 1<\/strong>, the Showing<\/strong> will take place: at 6 pm<\/strong>, Julia Schuster and Sarban Chowdhury will give insights into their artistic practices with the help of a projector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the ArtTour<\/strong>, the opening event of Kunstflecken, on Friday, September 11<\/strong>, Julia Schuster will present a performance revolving around the navel at the Keramikk\u00fcnstlerhaus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday, September 12<\/strong>, we are offering a workshop for children and young people<\/strong> aged eight and above. Participation in the workshop is possible with prior registration by email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The residency will conclude on Thursday, September 24<\/strong>, with the opening of the exhibition<\/strong> featuring the works created during the residency. As part of the opening, the artists will discuss their working processes and experiences during their time at the Keramikk\u00fcnstlerhaus in an Artist Talk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sarban Chowdhury<\/strong> (India) engages with social and ecological contexts at the Keramikk\u00fcnstlerhaus. In his work, he combines ceramics with textual and visual metaphors to reflect on power structures, social taboos, and geopolitical influences. Irony and satirical narratives serve as tools to make human behavior and societal contradictions visible while offering a critical perspective on the state of the environment and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Julia Schuster<\/strong> (Austria) focuses on the navel at the Keramikk\u00fcnstlerhaus as a multifaceted symbol of connection, separation, and transformation. In sculptural and performative works, she explores parallels between body and material. Using raw clay, fired ceramics, and text, she develops a site-specific installation that makes the material\u2019s duality \u2013 fragile and resistant, concave and convex \u2013 tangible and invites a contemplative encounter with body, memory, and change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
