On Wednesday,\u00a0May 13<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a06 p.m.<\/strong>, we warmly invite you to the opening of the exhibition featuring our two current guest artists,\u00a0Aliki Papadimitriou<\/strong>\u00a0from Greece and\u00a0Corwyn Lund<\/strong>\u00a0from Canada. On display are works created as part of the international\u00a0Ceramic Artist Exchange – Tandem Program<\/em>, developed over six weeks of intensive work and exchange. The opening will include a short introduction and an artist talk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exhibition will be open from Thursday, May 14<\/strong> to Monday, May 18<\/strong>, daily from 2 to 5 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Aliki Papadimitriou<\/strong>\u00a0is a sculptor from Greece. She holds an integrated Master\u2019s degree from the Athens School of Fine Arts and a technical degree from the Higher School of Fine Arts & Marble Craftsmanship Panormos Tinos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her main material is clay, which she often combines with other materials through modular connections to create non-utilitarian sculptures that emphasize materiality. Her work draws inspiration from tools, machines, toys, and everyday objects. For Aliki, crafting is a form of play, and her sculptures often resemble inventions, while their modular nature can recall children\u2019s building toys. She maintains an ongoing interest in how everyday objects can be reimagined and reassembled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her stay at Keramikk\u00fcnstlerhaus, she created a series of medium-scale sculptures from unglazed stoneware clay and found wood of the streets of Neum\u00fcnster, titled\u00a0\u201cGrupos on the ceiling of Hauptstra\u00dfe 51\u201d<\/strong>. These modular sculptures, made of ceramic and processed found wood, bring together hybrid forms inspired by industrial elements encountered in Neum\u00fcnster, objects found in flea markets in Athens and Germany, and machine-like constructions drawn from her sketchbook archive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corwyn Lund\u2019s <\/strong>(Canada) installation at the Keramikk\u00fcnstlerhaus, titled \u201cThin Premise\u201d<\/strong>, presents his explorations of a unique kiln-slumping process using thin commercial tiles, which is applied to the subject of automobile forms. In this experimental work, scale models of cars \u2013 ranging from a vintage Volkswagen Beetle to the contemporary Tesla Cybertruck \u2013 are translated into materially ambiguous abstractions. The artist sees the resulting sculptural works as an extension of the long history of sculpting hard materials \u2013 such as marble \u2013 into undulating drapery. Organised into an immersive installation with other building materials, \u201cThin Premise<\/em>\u201d suggests a renovation of the gallery space in progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
