Aliki Papadimitriou from Greece<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Corwyn Lund from Canada<\/strong> are new fellows at the Keramikk\u00fcnstlerhaus! As part of the \u00b0Ceramic Artist Exchange \u2013 Tandem Program, they will be living and working together at the Keramikk\u00fcnstlerhaus from\u00a0April 1 to May 20.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During their stay, there will be the opportunity to meet the artists in person:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On\u00a0Saturday, April 18<\/strong>, the Keramikk\u00fcnstlerhaus will open its doors from\u00a010 AM to 5 PM<\/strong>\u00a0for an\u00a0\u201cOpen Studio.\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0Here, you can observe the artists at work, engage in conversation with them, and -weather permitting- enjoy a coffee in our garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the\u00a0Showing\u00a0<\/strong>on\u00a0Tuesday, April 21 at 6 PM<\/strong>, Aliki Papadimitriou and Corwyn Lund will offer engaging insights into their artistic practice using a projector.<\/p>\n\n\n

A ceramics workshop for children<\/strong> aged eight and up will be offered on Saturday, May 2<\/strong>. Participation is possible with prior registration via email.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To conclude the residency, an exhibition<\/strong> of the works created during the stay will open on Wednesday, May 13<\/strong>. As part of the opening, the artists will share insights into their working process and their experiences during the residency in an Artist Talk.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aliki Papadimitriou\u00a0(Greece)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Aliki Papadimitriou<\/strong> (Greece) creates a group of modular sculptures at the Keramikk\u00fcnstlerhaus. By variably assembling the modules, ever new sculptural constellations emerge. The starting point of her work is the immediate tactile potential of unglazed ceramics. She explores, with a sense of tension, the relationship between clay and other materials. The forms are drawn from the artist\u2019s sketchbooks\u2014an archive of industrial-looking objects, biomorphic structures, and animal-inspired motifs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Corwyn Lund (Canada)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Corwyn Lund<\/strong> (Canada) develops a series of cast ceramic sculptures during his residency. The starting point is iconic automobile body shapes. Reduced to toy-like models, the vehicles are coated with a thick, glossy layer of glaze. Details blur, and the sculptures mutate into aerodynamic bodies reminiscent of cheap vacuum-formed plastic packaging. The work parodies the car as an ecologically questionable extravagance and critically questions the enduring fetish of automobile culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
