The Keramikkünstlerhaus Neumünster invites applications for its new artist residency format, °Ceramic Artist Duo (°CAD) 2027. Two residency grants will be awarded for 2027.
The program focuses on contemporary positions in ceramic art, collaborative artistic practice and the development of shared research projects.
The Residency
The residency is aimed at established artist duos whose artistic practice places contemporary ceramic art and ceramic materials at its core. The program offers duos who have already worked together the opportunity to further develop their collaborative practice through a shared artistic project.
During the seven-week residency, both artists share a studio and an apartment, including two rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom, as well as access to equipment such as kilns and a potter’s wheel and basic materials. All facilities and equipment are provided free of charge. Each artist receives a grant of €700 to contribute towards living and further material costs.
A genuine interest in collaborative work and the further development of a shared artistic practice is essential. Both artists must have sufficient English language skills to communicate throughout the residency.
Collaborative Process and Exhibition
During the residency, the duo works together on a joint project based on a shared research idea. The collaborative process includes developing a shared spatial and exhibition concept, culminating in a joint exhibition at the end of the residency.
The Keramikkünstlerhaus regularly opens its doors to the public for events and workshops. During these occasions, the presence of the artists is expected to provide insights into their artistic processes.
The residency concludes with a public exhibition lasting five days, presenting the works created during the residency and the results of the duo’s collaboration. During the exhibition, the artists are expected to be present and have the opportunity to sell their work.
At the end of the residency, the artist duo is asked to donate a representative work to the collection of the Keramikkünstlerhaus. The work is presented in an annual exhibition at the beginning of the following year.
