Call for °Ceramic Artist Exchange – Tandem 2026

Call for Applications: °Ceramic Artist Exchange – Tandem 2026 at the Keramikkünstlerhaus (Ceramic Artist House) Neumünster

For the year 2026, the Keramikkünstlerhaus in Neumünster is offering six residency grants as part of the international °Ceramic Artist Exchange – Tandem Program! The focus of °CEAT is on engaging with contemporary positions in free ceramics, fostering intercultural dialogue, and promoting exchange between artists of different generations.

This residency program is primarily aimed at artists whose work centers on contemporary ceramic art and who predominantly work with ceramic materials. Two artists from different generations (one emerging and one established) will share studio and living spaces (2 rooms, kitchen, bathroom) as well as equipment (kilns, potter’s wheel, etc.) and basic materials, all provided free of charge for a duration of seven weeks. The grant includes a one-time payment of €700 to support living and material costs.

A key requirement for participation is the explicit desire for exchange and collaboration with the fellow artist. Both artists must have sufficient English language skills, as communication will take place in English.

The Keramikkünstlerhaus is open to visitors for several events and workshops. During these times, the presence of the artists is expected to provide insights into their artistic process. After the six-week creative phase, a concluding public presentation, either in the form of an exhibition or performance, is expected, focusing on the works created and the exchange between the artists. During the five-day exhibition, artists will be present and have the opportunity to sell their work.

At the conclusion of the residency, artists are asked to donate a representative piece to the collection of the Keramikkünstlerhaus, which will be displayed in a yearly exhibition at the beginning of the following year.

The Keramikkünstlerhaus is located in the historic city center of Neumünster and has been operated by the Dr. Hans Hoch Foundation since 1987. It is a unique space for working and networking in contemporary ceramic art, having been shaped by numerous international artists over the years. The activities of the Keramikkünstlerhaus include the °Ceramic Artist Exchange – Tandem residency program, regular exhibitions, and workshops.

Applications for the seven-week residency in 2026 will be accepted until November 9, 2025. Multiple participations are excluded.
